The project is supervised by an advisory board, appointed by the Göttingen Academy of Sciences. It has  eight members and meets once or twice a year. The academic staff responsible for the editorial work is housed in different research institutions in Göttingen. They are supported by associates and external experts.

The Göttingen University Library and its policy of collecting innovative research literature contributed significantly to the international reputation of Göttingen and its scientists and scholars.
